March 9, 1997 – One of the greatest emcees to EVER rock the mic passed away. Christopher Wallace aka Notorious B.I.G. aka Biggie Smalls aka Big Poppa aka The Black Frank White was and still is one of the pioneers of not only putting east coast hip hop on the map, but also representing what REAL HIP HOP is all about. He paved the way for east coast hip hop to shine when west coast hip hop was prominent in the underground and mainstream. Biggie’s 94’ debut album, Ready to Die, hit four times platinum and he single handedly saved east coast hip hop and shifted the powers of hip hop back to Brooklyn. His bangers such as ”Juicy,” “One More Chance” and “Big Poppa” are timeless tracks and will forever be bumpin’ in speakers. His effortless, smooth yet raw lyrical emcee style will never be matched and till’ this day his songs are sampled by the current elite of emcees. Notorious B.I.G., you will be forever missed but never forgotten. Rap in Peace…#90sHIPHOPtrumpsAllMusic
