Do you ever wonder what the relation of 4/20 or 4:20 is to smoking marijuana? Or did you just conform to it because everyone else did? It is said to have started in San Rafael, California (of course it originated in Cali!) on April 20, 1971, by some teenage students who called themselves the “Waldos.” On this day, the Waldos were in search for a marijuana field that was supposedly abandoned and they called this “mission” of theirs, “4:20 Louis.” This symbolized their meeting place; the Louis Pasteur statue at San Rafael HS and fittingly used 4:20pm as their meeting time. They never found the abandoned weed field, but the term “four-twenty” lives on. Whether this story is true or not, “love” smokers all over the world use this term and this time to put one in the air. Smoke responsibly!
