August 20, 1965 – Lawrence Krisna Parker, better known as KRS-One, was born in Flatbush, Brooklyn in New York and is a legendary and influential emcee and hip hop figure. His emcee name “KRS-One,” is an acronym meaning “Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Everyone.” At the early age of 16, he pursued his emcee career, but at the same time, found himself living in a homeless shelter. However, it was a blessing in disguise, because it was then where he befriended his youth counselor, Scott Sterling AKA DJ Scott La Rock. Together, they formed the hip hop duo, Boogie Down Productions. KRS-One is easily regarded as one of the pioneers of hip-hop. #RealHipHop
