At age 15, Gianni Fontanoza akaGianni JF,” started messing with his sister’s Casio keyboard that was never utilized. New and undeveloped, he occupied this fresh curiosity by imitating songs via the radio or certain songs he considered his favorites; tunes from the Neptune’s. Without being given the correct fundamentals (i.e. formal music training), Gianni nurtured this love for chopping up samples and importing stumbled upon authentic sounds by producing tunes that sway him.

Reintroduced as Gianni JF (previously known as ‘Applebeats),’ he drops his official first release of music entitled, Rotten Apples. Identifying a turn in music making, Gianni expresses, “Pretty much the concept behind rotten apples is that all of those beats on that album are beats I did under ‘Applebeats.’ Since I’ve grown, I feel like those beats are a representation of who I was under ‘Applebeats,’ or the old me as far as my music goes.. and since they’re all old (2009) they’re considered rotten; hence (the title) ‘Rotten Apples.’ Whatever music I make under my name, ‘Gianni JF’ is up to date, and a more matured me.”
