
August 16, 1958 – Madonna Louis Ciccone, simply known as the iconic Madonna, was born in Bay City, Michigan and is of Italian American and French Canadian descent. As a child, she saw herself as a lonely girl that was searching for something, and “something” was what she definitely became! She began as a dancer and quickly evolved into a singer/songwriter. With her creative and fearless style, Madonna pushed the boundaries of her lyrics and image and made an avenue for herself that drew millions of fans. With world hits such as “Like a Virgin,” “Vogue,” “Papa Don’t Preach” and “Like a Prayer,” her imprint in music would never be duplicated but forever influential. She is recognized as the top most selling female recording artist of all-time, selling over 300 million records worldwide! In 08′, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, being the best selling female rock artist of the 20th century with 64 certified albums. Also in 08′, Billboard Magazine listed her as the second top artist, only behind the legendary Beatles! Along with a very fruitful and successful music career, Madonna is also successful in the movie biz. Her role in the film, “Evita,” earned her a Golden Globe.
