
August 10, 2008 – The singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and actor, Isaac Hayes passed away. Hayes was one of the influential musicians behind the genre of soul, funk, jazz-funk and disco; and is also regarded as being responsible for the evolution of disco and rap! As a singer/songwriter, he has dropped timeless tracks such as “Soul Man” and the still sampled musical score, “Theme from Shaft.” Hayes has been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and has been honored and recognized by the Grammy Hall of Fame (winning 3 Grammys) and The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His musical influences include greats such as James Brown, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Fats Domino, Sly and the Family Stone and Marvin Gaye. As an actor, Hayes featured in movies such as “I’m Gonna Git You Sucka” and is the voice for the “Chef” in South Park. Entertain in Peace Isaac Hayes…you will always be remembered…
