October 13, 1941 – Paul Frederic Simon was born in Newark, New Jersey and is a singer, songwriter and musician. He is most famously known for being the half of Simon & Garfunkel. Simon was the primary songwriter for this legendary duo, including timeless hit songs such as “Mrs. Robinson,” “The Sound of Silence” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” Along with a successful career with Art Garfunkel, Simon also was very successful as a solo artist, winning 12 Grammys, a Lifetime Achievement Award and becoming a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee.
